Industry - Martin Ridley Collection

In this collection from about 1905 we see that Martin Ridley took photographs of a number of industrial views in a number of locations across south Wales, from the docks in Barry, and Cardiff to collieries in Abertillery, New Tredegar and Ebbw Vale. This was a time when there was a substantial growth in the heavy industries in Wales, and the working life of the nation at the beginning of the twentieth century was something that drew the attention of this commercial photographer. Of particular interest is the photograph in this collection of Penclawdd cockle workers waiting at Penclawdd station after a day's work.
