Tiger Bay and the Rainbow Club

In the late 1950s and 1960s Malcolm Capener, a local amateur film-maker shot footage of Tiger Bay and Butetown recording the varied range of events that took place. In the late 1980s many residents of the area were interviewed as part of the Tiger Bay and Cardiff Docks oral history project. The interviews were digitised by the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage Project and were used to inspire new creative works In 2021, Kyle Legall and Catrin M S Davies captured present day residents recalling some of the events and people in the film. They are a combination of the original film, oral history and modern day recollections. The piece was created as part of the Unlocking Our Sound Heritage Project, 2021
