Pantperthog Farmhouses and the Forestry Commission

A collection of items of farmhouses and related items in the Pantperthog area which were bought by the Forestry Commission in the first half of the 20th century for forest plantation. Contains images of how the buildings look today and the personal account of Morris Morris, who lived in Pen Piner until the early 1950s, about farm life before and after the Forestry Commission came to the area. Also contains other items to illustrate elements of rural life in the area in the early 20th century. This collection shows the changes in land use, agriculture, and rural life because of the forestry plantation and the wider impact of the Great War and the Second World War.
