Cold Knap Lake and Gardens

Designed as an urban park and recreation area at a time when Barry's reputation as a tourist destination was growing, Cold Knap park dates from the 1920s, when it was bought from the landowning Romilly family using government funding. It was inspired by the Garden City movement which was dominant in town planning at the time and incorporated housing, the harp-shaped lake, gardens, and a lido. The Marine Lake is a popular place of recreation for the town today, though the lido was demolished in 2004, allowing for the area to be landscaped further as a garden.
