Romans in the Conwy valley
The Romans built a fort at Canovium (alternate spelling Kanovium) at Caerhun. and a road over the mountain passes to Segontium (modern Caernarfon). Another road was called 'Sarn Helen' which started from Canovium and was the main Roman road to Caermarthen
