Seeing a polar bear is the interviwee's first memory of television and also a rugby match at the end of the 40s / beginning of the 50s. Aberfan is remembered and the awful images, especially the little corpses being taken from the school. The two devolution referendums are discussed and Leo Abse's angry opposition in 79 is mentioned; he talks about the enjoyment of watching the 97 results and alleges that the Carmarthen result was held back deliberately to increase the thrill. He refers to the thrill of seeing people from all parties sharing a stage after the result. Of all the things he saw on television, the events which have left the greatest impression on him are the reports on Foot and Mouth Disease in 1968; 9/11, the release of Mandela and Churchill's funeral.
