Cyril Llewelyn

The power of television is discussed in this interview; the interviewee says that it is hard to ignore, for example, an appeal for money for developing countries. He talks of the effect of television on society and his experience of that as a preacher when a woman told him not to preach for too long as she wanted to go home to watch the Forsyte Saga. He also discusses Aberfan and his feelings towards the mine owners. Speaking of the campaign for and against Devolution in 97 he says that television feeds people the arguments but the government of the day, using television, often use events to influence the way people vote. The Miners' Strike is discussed - the loyalty of the miners to the union and their co-workers, and the loyalty towards the miners in Cwm Rhondda.
