Bleddyn Williams

The interviewee watched the Coronation in a neighbour's house, there was a big crowd there and some had brought a picnic. They got a television themselves in the middle of the 1950s and friends would come over to watch the boxing or the football. He remembers his mother watching the wrestling on Saturday. He went with schoolchildren to the Maes on the day of the Investiture, in the months leading up to the ceremony remembers many comparing it to the 1911 ceremony on television. It meant nothing to the interviewee as a Welshman but it was good for Caernarfon.Rugby is not a popular game in north Wales, but he was learning the rules by watching matches on television. He remembers seeing Aberfan and some of the presenters made a great impression on him.
