The interviewee's parents got a television in 1955 as he was taking part in a public speaking competition which was being televised. He saw the Coronation in the cinema in Pwllheli on a school trip, and began to feel political. Remembers seeing Aberfan non-stop, the event which made the first real impression on television.The launch of S4C was very important for the interviewee, there were great expectations. Technical developments over the years mean that today's programmes are more polished. The birth of S4C also opened up a new world personally. The wives made an impression in the broadcasting of the Miners' Strike, their support was very evident.
