Eleri Roberts

The interviewee remembers going to the village doctor's house to watch the Coronation, the television had been placed on top of a ladder and it was exciting to be watching television for the first time. He heard of the drowning of Tryweryn on the radio but he would go to his sister's house to watch the news and he saw the protests there. He saw soldiers practising on the Bangor road before the Investiture and he thought television showed opposition to encourage supporters of the Investiture. The day of the children's funerals in Aberfan made an impression. Doesn't feel that S4C is as good as it was but remembers Gwynfor Evans' fast and Margaret Thatcher changing her mind.
