Description

"An 'obituary of Seattle resident Rhoda Jones written by her friend Gwen Helm.
Transcription of text:
Parents were Mr. & Mrs. Wm. G, Griffiths. Mr. Griffiths worked his way over to the “new World” to find a more advantageous home for his family. After arriving in Seattle where there was a thriving Welsh community, Mr. Griffiths sent for his wife and 5 children ages 12—10—8—6—4-Rhooda being the youngest. Tis was in 1911. I can just imagine that journey!!. Steerage and cross country! Seattle was to be their home for the rest of their lives. The family were staunch supports of the church. Rhoda herself holding offices from time to time- Sunday School, Secy.-also Christian Endeavor etc. Rhoda was married to John Jones in the Welsh Church- the only one of us ‘war kids’ to marry one of our own.
This is file number psw01054 in the Welsh Heritage Center Archive ( see below)"
