One of the two most intriguing photographs which show an airship over Barry Dock, it is difficult to be certain due to the distance and limited quality of the image but it seems likely that it is the British airship R100 which is known to have flown over the area on August 16th 1930. It is certainly not a barrage balloon which were entirely different in shape. Other airships including the German Graf Zeppelin have been photographed in this area but from study of other photographic material R100 seems most likely in these images.
