Description

The Ridgebourne area and a partly built Temple Avenue in Llandrindod Wells, as seen from the common. The arrival of the railways to the inland spa towns after 1865 made a huge difference to the demand for new hotels and guest houses on previously empty land. Visitors were able to come in substantial numbers to follow the fashion of the time and 'take the waters'.
