Description

A long gone location in Hay once known locally as Chain Alley, after the chains strung between the posts which separated the sunken row of cottages from the roadway above. The famous Victorian curate Francis Kilvert referred in his diaries to visiting residents of Chain Alley, which was demolished in 1883.
