Description

John writes of having marched six miles on Tuesday morning. They will be given new clothes and their pay tomorrow and he hopes to be able to send his old clothes home. They will also be starting off again tomorrow, probably towards Nashville. All the lads are well, apart from Fred, whom they have left in the hospital in Nicholasville suffering from 'tifoid feaver'.
They receive an English sermon from their Chaplain every Sunday.

According to John, Touesville is seven miles long and is one of the most beautiful places he has seen yet.
