Description
A very old helmet plate of the former Glamorgan Constabulary. This style was worn on the helmets of both Constable's and Sergeant's.
The design with dragon motif in the centre began use in 1904, and over the decades, made in various metals and with different monarchs crowns. The design finally went out of use in 1969, when that force became part of the newly formed South Wales Constabulary.
Little doubt that this particular badge is quite rare and in excess of 100 years old.
Part of the Ross Mather Police Memorabilia of Wales Collection.
