Description

John has heard that Johnston has fled from Jackson, leaving poison on the ground and torpedoes buried underneath the turf.

He also writes of visiting the town of Vicksburg and says that everything has changed and that it does not look like the same place. He is horrifed to think that so many men have lost their lives. Every single Welshmen in Company R have been killed and three from Company C.
