Description

John isn't as healthy as he has been but he says that his spirits are as high as ever. He says that childish feelings have long left the soldiers but he also says that there's no point in anyone being downhearted.

John mentions that he has received a letter from Morris Edwards with a sermon in it that lifted his spirits. He tells his parents once again to use the ten dollars he has sent and not to keep it.
