US sailor outside St Cybi’s church, Holyhead. This photo was taken by a crew member of US submarine chaser SC-254, Sept/Oct 1918.

This document was brought to the attention of the U-Boat Project 1914-18 by Aled L. Jones, Holyhead, who kindly allowed us to share it.

I came across this photo and one other of a group of sailors outside the church as part of my research into the history of St Cybi's Church, Holyhead. The suggested date for the photos is Sept/ Oct 1918, but it may have been November. There is a dedicated website for the Submarine Chaser boats and this has a photo of SC 254 docked at Holyhead for Armistice Day, November 11, 1918.
