Scientific Name:Cordiceps militaris
Fungi facts:This group of fungi parasitises buried insects and other arthropods where the fungus invades the underground larva and eventually replaces the host tissue. The brightly coloured fruiting body emerges above ground and the spores released from this then re-infect other grubs. Some species of Cordyceps are valued for their medicinal properties such as in immunosuppressive drugs for transplant patients and as an aphrodisiac.
Technique:Hand embroidery
