Description

Scientific Name:Grifola frondosa
Fungi facts:'Hen-of-the-woods' is a weak parasitic fungus which grows in large clustered tiers at the base of trees, mainly oak. It is a short lived perennial which turns the wood white as opposed to brown as in other parasitic wood rotters found on oak. It can grow to a weight of 20kg. and is used in herbal medicines in China and Japan to slow down the advance of cancers.
