Description

Wooden box belonging to Benjamin Johnson which held his letters from West Africa and old Ration books. Benjamin brought many objects home to Newport with him when he sailed in the Merchant Navy. It was not uncommon in the Johnson household to see African items brought home as trinkets, mixed with items of his West African Heritage.
