Description

'Cwmdwyfron Ironworks' around 1790. This is one of a pair of watercolours painted in preparation for John Morgan's copper half-penny token. The artist 'J.C.D.' is unknown, but this view shows a water-powered tilt hammer in action inside Cwmdwyfron. A prominent local industrialist and banker, Morgan also owned forges at Carmarthen, Kidwelly, Whitland and near Narberth. (Carmarthenshire Museum CAASG 1975:1348)
