Description

A large photograph mounted on a card backing of Class No. 3, No. 8 District Police Training Centre, Police Headquarters, Cowbridge Road, Bridgend. It is dated the 9th November 1948.

The Centre was centralised a Home Office establishment for the initial training of police officers for the police forces of Wales.

The photograph belonged to the late Arthur H.C. Phillips, who at the time was living in Neath. He served for over 25 years in the forces of Glamorgan and South Wales as both Constable and Sergeant. In the photo, Arthur is shown seated, front row - furthest to the left.

At the end of each course, each Class had its photograph taken and each of the officers was able to purchase a copy.
