This Brookes flywheel operated guillotine shear was used for cutting up process scrap for remelting. The lack of an accurate squaring arm or length stop shows that this is not a precision shear for finished product. The pallet of bright finish sheet was likely rejected after cutting to length for surface defects ( e.g . lamination of rolled in metal). There is a sheet of Pattern 51 checkmate roll embossed pattern sheet to the right.
