Description

Structural damage began to appear in the old Church building which stood on the corner of Eton Road and Corporation Road (built approx. 1900) in the late 1950s. This was due to the huge number of shale lorries which thundered up and down Corporation Road to the steelworks at Llanwern. The old building was constructed with hardly any solid foundations during what was known as the 'Welsh revival' that was a period of only a few years when the numbers of church go-ers increased.
A number of designs were submitted for the design of a new building that would become Community House Eton Road.
