Description

The Battle of Waterloo marked the end of Napoleon Bonaparte’s ambition to dominate Europe. It was also the first time the British Government issued a medal for a specific battle rather than for a campaign. This particular example was awarded to a member of the 69th (South Lincolnshire) Regiment of Foot, a unit that amalgamated with The Welch Regiment in 1881.
