Description

A Welsh “lobster-pot” style stick chair. Made from ash with an elm seat, with turned birch front arm supports. The top rail is unusually decorative but chairs with similar shaped ornate rails are known. The chair retains traces of the original painted finish.
Late 18th/early 19th century
From the Swansea Valley, South Wales.
