Description

Photography by John Ball - 23 June 1999 (with Agfa ePhoto307 digital camera)

This famous red-brick medieval castle is where the Princes of Powys took up residence in the seventh century AD. The castle has been continuously occupied for over 700 years and contains paintings, tapestries, period furniture, and Clive of India's collection of Indian works of art. This Images of Wales feature focuses on the castle gardens, but you can explored the history of the castle itself on Jeff Thomas's Castles of Wales website.
