Photography by John Ball - 2:30 pm 8th May 1998 (with Agfa ePhoto307 digital camera)

This ancient 13 foot high Celtic stone cross overlooks the main A4075 road which runs through the village of Carew. The cross commemorates Maredydd (Meredith), the ruler of Deheubarth, who was slain in AD 1035.

Image 2, 3:

The cross is richly decorated with characteristic Celtic interwoven scrolls.

Image 4:

This small panel is said to contain a Latin inscription. Any offers to translate??
