Margaret says:
The picture above shows the JAMES family of Godre'r Garth farm outside Rhydyfro, Glamorgan.
In the centre are John JAMES and his wife Elizabeth (née HOPKIN) who died in 1879. The two on either side I suspect are their mothers: Anne JAMES of the Royal Oak Hotel in Rhydyfro, and Hannah HOPKIN, formerly of Godre'r Garth and subsequently of Rhydyfro.
The others are possibly some of John and Elizabeth's eight surviving children and their spouses.
The strapping lads in the back row may be John's brothers William and David who were blacksmiths in Rhydyfro.
I think the young man fourth from left at the back is my great grandfather Daniel, but no one in the family in Australia can identify anyone for certain except John and Elizabeth.
The photograph was probably taken about 1875 and is in pretty bad condition because it's been through a house fire.
It would be wonderful if anyone can recognise any of this family.

Margaret adds:
Most of my JAMES, JOHN, and HOPKIN families are buried in the graveyards at Saron Chapel, Rhydyfro (see below) and St Ciwg's, the parish church of Llangiwg.
