Description
This collection of images shows when His Majesty King George VI, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth and Her Royal Highness Princess Elizabeth made a visit to the Orb Ironworks in March 1944. The event was a special occasion for all the workers and their families and scores of people attended to see the Royal visit. Each member of staff was given a Souvenir of Visit as a keepsake of the visit, including a message of thanks from the Lysaght family. These items were donated to the W R Lysaght institute by the Orb Ironworks when it closed in 2020. It has been possible to share these images with thanks to the National Lottery Heritage Fund.
