Quod mori potuit
All that was mortal in JOSEPH
PRYCE Esqr late of Gellyhyr in
this Parish whose amiable
qualities Endeared him to all
his friends. Religious without
hypocrisy, humble without
meanness, charitable without
Ostentation, humane, benevolent,
Hospitable: an affectionate
Husband, indulgent Father;
a Sincere friend, impartial
Magistrate, His life Exemplary,
his Death happy: unfeigned
Piety accompanied him thro'
every scene to the last moments
of Life, Supported Him with
Assurance of hope, the Source
of Peace, and Ernest
of a Blissfull Immortality.

Many thanks to Terry Barlow for his suggestion that Nathaniel's surname might be Bowen, and to Jeff Coleman and Graham Williams for confirming the name Bowen by reference to the Ilston parish registers and churchyard monumental inscriptions.
