Description
William Anthony Hewlett won a TUC Scholarship to attend Peterhouse College in Cambridge for two years in the 1920s. The family lived in Cambridge and May's sister Mary (the most Welsh of all the family!) was actually born there. May Hewlett wrote:
"This is the family going punting on the River Cam when we lived in Cambridge. I’m at the front wearing a hat with father behind me. Rose is beside him to the right, and next to her, in the other boat, is Mother, Beatrice, holding the new born Mary. I think Vernon must have taken the picture. We all enjoyed our time in Cambridge and made the most of every opportunity."
