but finding the men all out
I went home again.
I was at home all day Monday On
^ the Tuesday (the day after
the Riots) I heard the Men from
Merthyr were coming down
& would press every one to
go to Newport - I was afraid
& left my House and went
into the Woods to prevent
being taken - I heard the same
Wednesday Mor-ng and as the
work was all stopd and I wanted
to see my mother & get out
of the way of the Chartists - I
went to Newport & from
thence by Packet to my mothers
at Coalpit Heath w[h]ere I
got work until I was taken
last Friday night at my
mothers House at Coalpit [Heath]

there drinking I stopd
there about a quarter
of an hour I drank one
pint of Beer there I did
not see many people there.
I did not hear them
