Description

A 1910 photograph of a contingent of Bristol City Police officer who were on duty at Clydach Vale, nr Tonypandy during the Coal Strike of 1910 / 1911. The identity of the civilians in the front are not known, but are likely to be related to the hotels and homes where the officers were billeted during the period of the strike. Many police forces from both Wales and England were drafted in to aid the beleaguered Glamorgan Constabulary. Published with the kind permission of Avon & Somerset Police Centre.
