Description

Black-and-white photograph of John Martin and Adelaide Jarman on their wedding day, September 29th 1945. John and Adelaide are both World War Two veterans, having served in the Royal Air Force and the Women's Auxiliary Air Force, respectively. They met by chance at a dance in Northamptonshire in 1943 and were both granted leave to get married in 1945 after John was repatriated to England from Germany where he had been a prisoner of war. They were married in the village of Clipston, Northamptonshire, in the same primary school that Adelaide had attended. They spent their honeymoon in Wales and eventually retired to Tanygroes in Ceredigion, where they remain very much in love after 78 years together.
