Description

Images of the farm buildings and famhouse in 1889.

Note on image 1:
"This photograph has been previously attributed to H. L. Bridger, but it was more likely taken by Clara Davies. It is an early winter photograph: the wheat or barley ricks are intact, oat threshing did not begin until January. They have begun cutting the hayrick (the rick with the ladder against it clearly shows the sharp edges of hay which has been cut with a hay knife). The wheeled implement with two long wooden horse shafts is a soil-presser. The animals in the famyard are pigs."
Skomer Island, Mike Alexander, 2021
