Description

Article from the Western Mail, reporting on an emergency occurance on Skomer Island:

"Tractor light flashing an SOS sent St. David's lifeboat hurrying to barren Skomer Island, two miles off the Pembrokeshire coast, early yesterday.

The lifeboat picked up an Irishman whose foot became poisoned after he had stepped on rusty nails on Thursday.

Throughout Saturday, the man's employer, Mr B. Hopper, had burnt a fire on a headland and sent off rockets trying to attract coastguards on the mainland."
