Description

This film shows the latest technology in 1950s steel-making at the Ebbw Vale steelworks. The five-stand roller was used to process tin to be used in making tin cans and other such goods. The metal was passed through the rollers which determined the thickness of the sheet. The addition of the five-stand roller to the Ebbw Vale steelworks was an important one and the footage was shown to workers and others to demonstrate the advancement of the plant.
