Back row L-R: Bet Hughes Mrs Bet Morgan (née Hughes) wife of Pwllpeiran's keeper, Margaret ? who worked as the cook at Pwllpeiran, Bertha Pryce (sister of Parch. Elwyn Pryce), Miss Thompson, Nantycau. Front row L-R: Mrs Betty Jones (née Burrell) wife of Ceredig Jones Pwllpeiran's head shepherd, Miss Elizabeth Williams (later Elizabeth Allen) Nantgrafanglach and Mary Lizzie Hughes, Hawthorn Cottage. These were the women who fed the men shearing for 2 days. The food was Roast lamb, boiled potatoes, cabbage and hot gravy followed by rice pudding and jam. In the evening they had cold lamb and salad for supper.
