The Dale Princess being rescued. 45 day visitors were stranded on the island because a sudden Northerly gale blew up and Dale Princess's propellor was damaged. Several attempts were made to stop the boat drifting resulting the loss of at least one anchor. The lifeboat from Solva arrived just in time and by throwing a floating line they were able to tow the boat away from the cliffs. A helicopter had arrived at about the same time. It landed ups by the Old Farm but it could not help with the rescue.
As volunteers between us we looked after all the stranded people. Beds blankets and food were found. There is an excellent account of this in Skomer log.
