Description
1 volume. Horse purchase book with binding and headings associating the volume with Naval Colliery Co (1897) Ltd, Fernhill Collieries Limited and the National Coal Board. The volume records the following information: date purchased; name; age; height; colour; sex; description; purchasing price; dealer; where sent to work; transfer details; how disposed of [including details of horses' deaths or whether they were sold]; and date disposed of. The volume includes a number of loose inserts created by Fernhill Collieries concerning the purchase, upkeep and disposal of individual horses, including horsekeeper's daily reports for 1917. There are also loose inserts from 1947 concerning the disposal of individual horses.
