Description

This book tells the whole story of the Tynewydd disaster of 1877 as told through newspaper reports of the time. It records the flooding of a coalmine, the rescue attempts and eventual recovery of some of the imprisoned men. Not only that, but the untold story of the bitter in-fighting that took place over the awarding of the Albert Medal to rescuers and rescued. This book brings to vid light the most famous event in the history of coalmining in the Rhondda Valley.
