Description

Jeff Shute, the son of Selwyn Shute and Dilys Shute (née Kift), who ran Castleton Stores in Mumbles, sent us these photographs and said:

"They worked very hard and were part of the community of Mumbles.
Plus, these were the days before pre-large wholesalers, like Bookers these days. So we would supply other businesses, such as hotels, restraints and delivery to people's homes. Some needed the service, others because they could."

The shop became affectionately known as 'Seldom Shut' and had a popular school tuck shop.
