Description

This is a photograph of Ceredigion resident John Powell, with the unexploded bomb he found as a child on a housing estate in Cardiff during World war two. John and his friend recovered the bomb, dragging it home, after the Royal Engineers had disarmed it and removed the explosive. John was living in suburban Cardiff during the war and often the children would go hunting for Bomb shrapnel after a raid from German Bombers. John and his friend found this bomb and decided to keep it. It was some trophy! The two boys kept it a secret and John has kept the bomb throughout his life as a memory of his childhood. The Photograph was taken by Age Cymru Dyfed Veterans Officer Neil Davies, in John's living room, by kind permission of Mrs Powell.
