Description

By the end of the nineteenth century, Llandeilo had its fair share of performance venues, such as the chapels, the Civic Hall (or Drill Hall / Victoria Hall), Market Hall, and St Teilo's Church. These hosted countless concerts, fundraisers, and eisteddfodau, which drew audiences from far and wide. This is a programme of a Grand Celebrity Concert held at Capel Newydd, Llandeilo on Thursday 2 March 1961 at 7pm. The President was Mrs Onfel Thomas, Builth Wells; the Chairman was the Rev. W. Raymond Williams MA; the Accompanist was Menna Williams GRSM LRAM ARCM; the Organist was Miss Lal Lewis LLCM; the Artistes included the Soprano Marion Studholme; Contralto Iona Jones; Tenor Stuart Burrows; Baritone Gerwyn Morgan; and Harpist Jean Thomas LRAM (Telynores Tywi).
