These are programme notes for one of the many Organ Recitals held by P. R. Daniel in St Teilo’s Church, Llandeilo. He was organist and choir-master at the Parish Church for over 50 years; conductor of the choral festivals in Llandeilo; a teacher of the piano and organ; the musical director of Dr Lloyd’s operettas in Llandeilo, and for many years, conductor of the Llandilo Mixed Choir. The Organ Recital notes show how he introduced Llandeilo audiences to the latest in musical thought and practise, such as the idea of the “tone-poem” (together with a warning that in the piece by Ernest Austin “some of the chords are so unusual as to give the impression of wrong notes being played.”)
