Description

This unusual double-sided lectern was donated by Richard Sleep. Made from solid oak the pediments are carved with Celtic crosses and foliage it was crafted by Clarkes of Llandaff and is still in use today. Richard Sleep was a Block and Spar Maker - Boat Builders. He established R Sleep Ltd in 1893. His firm was listed in the resgister Ports of the British Channels and West which noted ‘he was much respected for his sterling worth.’ He was President of the St David’s Football Club from 1889 and supported St Catherine’s Sports Club
