Description

A heckle was used to align woollen fibres prior to spinning. This iron heckle was found at Nevern Castle during the series of digs 2008-2018 led by Dr Chris Caple of Durham University. The castle was built by the Norman invaders in 1108, and burned down by the Welsh in 1196.
